Grow something different - grow Oka.
A gourmet vegetable producing large yellow hibiscus-like flowers that form into slender green edible pods. Choose a sunny well-drained soil that has been prepared with an application of blood & bone along with organic matter. Keep plants well-watered and feed regularly with a liquid fertilizer. Pick the pods when tender approximately 4-5 days after the flowers have opened. If left on the bush the pods become very tough and the plant stops flowering. Eat fresh or dried. Also ideal for flavouring and thickening soups and stews.
